Superintendent of Corrections - Rockingham CountyManages eight subordinate supervisors who supervise the activities of 100 employees at the Department of Corrections. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this department inclusive of the care, custody and control of pre-trial and post convicted prisoners of the jail.
Oversees resolution of inmate grievances and investigations. Maintains knowledge of correctional laws and standards. Performs Operational and Facility Inspections, ensures public safety, personnel safety and training. Testifies at various hearings; on proposed legislation and at arbitration cases. Duties require knowledge of Corrections/Criminal Justice equivalent to completion of a 4 yr. college degree and 10 years of related experience with a minimum of 5 years supervisory experience, or equivalent combination of education and exp. Certification as a Correctional Officer required. Mandatory post offer physical, drug/alcohol testing and criminal records and sexual offender check for new employees.
