The Institute for Local Official Training brings together theoretical, legal, and practical training in management skills, governmental practices, risk management, and organizational behavior for local government and school organizations in New Hampshire. Pilot programs are specifically designed for local elected officials and senior administrators and managers in recognition of the pivotal role that these individual can assume in risk management awareness and action.
Usually presented through early evening sessions that include a light supper and networking opportunities, PILOT offers local elected governing board officials and upper level management in-depth guidance in navigating the hazardous waters of local government on selected topics where their influence and decision making can make a risk management difference. Now in its third year, PILOT offers a changing and challenging opportunity to understand the key role played by local government officials in managing and mitigating risks of all kinds. In 2008, PILOT begins its third year in bringing local officials and top level administrators and managers together to discover effective means of implementing risk management in local government. PILOT attendees have the opportunity to learn from experienced attorneys and other local government professionals through traditional seminar format training. But each PILOT session also provides opportunities for exchanges with faculty and other local government officials and managers through both structured dialog and informal networking. Each year's set of PILOT programs are carefully selected to provide interesting and informative programs that respond to the needs of local government leaders. This year, PILOT has become even more responsive to member request as session 2, The Role of the Governing Board, and Session 3, The ABCs of Human Resources, will be presented on a regional basis on dates to be announced. |
